Building Changes Receives Federal Recovery Act Grant

Building Changes, with its office in Seattle, works to end homelessness in Washington State. In partnership with the public and private sectors, they provide grants and consulting services and advocate for long-term solutions. Jeff Raikes, Gates Foundation CEO, recently rallied the business community to support the needs of the homeless. In a recent keynote speech before Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce members, Raikes cited the accomplishments of Building Changes and their Washington Families Fund partners. Building Changes work has also been recognized on a national level. In September, they received a $1 million federal Recovery Act grant, which will be used to increase job training and employment opportunities for people experiencing homelessness.
 

Legal Voice Honored

Legal Voice was founded in 1978 as the Northwest Womens Law Center. A vital, active force in the community, they make substantive, lasting changes through legislation, self-help resources and litigation with a far-reaching public impact. Woods & Associates congratulates Legal Voice, an organization that secures and protects womens legal rights, as one of the recipients of the Seattle Distinguished Resident Award for Human Rights. Each year, the Seattle Commission for Human Rights and the Seattle Office for Civil Rights give this award to individuals and organizations in Seattle for their outstanding achievements in advancing human rights.
